Royal American was founded in Panama City, Florida in 1968 by Joseph F. Chapman, III. Following graduation from the University of Florida, College of Law, Mr. Chapman served as Chief General Counsel for the Governor’s Office of the State of Florida as well as Chief Counsel for the Florida State Road Board. Returning to Panama City in 1967, Mr. Chapman entered law practice while successfully seeking a seat in the Florida Legislature for two terms. By 1972, Mr. Chapman directed all his time and efforts to the growth of Royal American.

Royal American Construction’s record is that of maintaining the highest possible standards of construction within the industry. Steve Summerbell, Vice President, and holder of the Florida General Contractor’s License Number CGC1533508, the Certified Building Contractor license number CBC1256430 and the Florida Certified Underground Utility & Excavation Contractor’s License Number CUC1224547, directly monitors the entire construction process, including cost estimating, construction scheduling, inspections, etc. Superintendents on each individual construction site are responsible for controlling and monitoring the on-site workflow, utilizing a team of more than 50 field personnel.

Our in-house staff of 16 dedicated professionals includes several estimators with experience in all fields of estimating, value engineering, and access to the latest computer technology and schedulers that utilize the latest version of Primavera to provide computer-generated schedules for the management of construction. The schedules are updated weekly based on daily reports generated in the field. We also use an AutoCAD system with a plotter to quickly respond to changes in the field. All our resources are readily available to respond quickly and accurately to any construction issue.
